Underwear, that’s fun to wear!

August 24, 2015

I have a confession to make, I have never been properly fitted for a bra. Nope. Though I know I am not alone. I found the perfect t-shirt bra a few years ago, bought 4 (2 white, 1 black, 1 bright pink) and called it day. While I do love lingerie, a lot of it isn’t for every day wear, especially plus size items. It’s all babydolls and frills. There never used to be a good ‘inbetween’. Something sexy & stylish, comfortable yet firm, but also affordable.

I’d always looked at the lingerie City Chic released, and would sigh. Sometimes being a plus size lady, with itty bitty titties was annoying. A size 22b was hard to find, and then City Chic started releasing some bras in more cup sizes. Hallelujah!

If you have the chance, go in and try them on. I fell SO in love with the Mila bra, I tried it on in it’s smallest cup size (a D!) and it fit, really well actually. I never thought i’d see the day when I would wear & fit a D cup.

So, this is me. Stretch marks, cat scratches, lumps and bumps. And you know what? I love my body, it’s not perfect, but it’s been with me all my life (duh!). It’s seen me through the best and worst of times, it took me until my 20s to realise that my body is something precious and I should take care of it and respect it. In my teens I had a lot of self hatred after being bullied all throughout school, and I’m human, I still have those moments when “I wish my arms were a bit thinner, or that I didn’t have a double chin”, but then I remember, that things could be so much worse, andΒ I should be happy because i’m pretty lucky to be me.

These pictures were taken by a good friend of mine, and let me say, it’s pretty nerve wracking stripping down to your underwear in front of other people. Random fact, my first ever post on this blog was pretty much about them! So a huge thank you to Nick from Purple Nebula Photography for taking these pictures, and to Kayley for your help making me laugh and not feel so nervous.

I have never been fitted for a bra either! I basically just used whatever bra my mom bought for me. Like you, I have itty bitty boobies too, and it’s hard to find something that has straps long enough but with cups that won’t make my boobs swim in them.

I like the polka dot pair! πŸ™‚ And you’re beautiful! πŸ™‚

You look gorgeous!!! Lovely photos, I’ve also fallen in love with the Mila. Are you saying it runs small or runs big, or that when being fitted you found out you were wearing the wrong size? I’m buying it without being able to try it on first, so was just curious. Thanks!!

  • I’m usually a b/c cup, and i’m wearing this in a D, so I’d say maybe go up a cup size. It fits really good on me, which I wasn’t expecting. I’m wearing a C in the spotty bra, which fits about the same. So i’d say go up a cup size for the Mila.

  • Aww, thank you! I think i’ve always been a little intimidated to get fitted for a bra, though I know it’s their job and their used to it. I have no problems having to get undressed for doctors or that. I guess it’s just in my head. I’ve basically just been wearing these 2 bra’s non stop since I got them, I think I need to get one thats a lighter shade though πŸ˜›

  • I love the underwear, both sets are WOW and you look amazing. I love the way you worded your disclaimer at the end to remind people to be respectful. Last time I did an underwear post I cut my face out of the shots as I didn’t want the shots reblogged in *those* kind of places by *those* kinda people.

  • Xia Rain

Oh, I see. Damn, I’m a 22f, so I might have a problem with that. I might click and collect the F and the G then, see which one fits better. Thanks for the reply Natalie, thats good to know. I appreciate it. ?

  • Becky Brown

    you look amazing!

  • Louise P

You look absolutely stunning in these photos! I love both sets of underwear, but the navy one is my fave by far. It’s only been a couple of years since I went for my first proper fitting (I’m 30), and after going again last year I finally feel like I’m wearing the right size. It makes such a difference. I have small boobs for my size, too (I’m only a C cup), and I think we’re about the same size and body shape! xx

  • Rai

Wow, how gorgeous do you look! I get fitted quite often, just because when my size changes as does my cup size. I’m a 38B at the moment – in Aus sizes apparently a 16A – and I find it quite difficult to find my size because it goes from 28-36 in a lot of shops πŸ™ xx

  • I have a question, seeing as how the ‘Pamela’ bra is an online exclusive… I’m usually a 20B in city chic, but often find that the middle part in between the cups digs into my breast bone, if that makes sense? do you find you have that at all? is it the same cut/style as their other bras? The only bras I have from City Chic that don’t hurt to wear are the strapless ones, but I would love to have this spotty one! been wanting to get something similar for a while now

  • Olivia

Love love love! These photos are gorgeous Nat! Have you ever been professionally fitted for a bra? My friend Emma who has worn a B cup forever just had her measurements done and now buys F cups! I kid you not!! X

  • These are the only 2 bras I have from City Chic so I can’t say what they are like compared to others. I’m unsure if all their ‘contour’ style bras are cut from the same pattern/style, maybe thats something you could ask on their facebook?
The Pamela is a C cup and I find it gives me crazy cleavage, it really pushes my boobs up and together. I can’t say I’ve really noticed it digging into that area, but that’s not been a problem I have had with bras. I find them comfortable (for bras, ha!) though probably the Mila more comfortable then the Pamela, and I think that may actually be due to the cup being a size larger in the Mila. I am left with some marks when I take them off, but I find all bras do that with me. The Pamela also has padded cups which I prefer.
Hope that helps a little! If there is any other questions I can help answer, let me know!

  • I love the Mila set! That bra is gorgeous. I especially like the two strips of satin. Not sure what you call it, but I’m sure you know what I’m taking about. Looks great on you! ? x

  • wow, that top bra is so beautiful! I have the opposite problem, my chest is too large and barely anyone carries my size, let alone have something cute like that!

You look great in both sets!

  • Aww, thank you! When I was originally thinking of doing this post, I considered doing the head chop thing, but then having an awesome friend photograph me just seemed silly to do that.

  • Isn’t it amazing! Argh, that’s gotta suck. I don’t know much about larger bra sizes, but it does seem so many places have such a limited range for plus sizes. I know CC goes up to a J.

  • The harness part, yeah, that’s my fave part of it!

  • WHAT! From a B to an F! Wow. Nope, never been fitted, but I think I should!

  • I can imagine adding or loosing weight would change your size! I know when I lost weight I had to try and find new bras, which can be annoying! It seems you’d be in such an ‘inbetweenie’ bra size, like most A cup bras here wouldn’t go up to a 16, and any size 16 wouldn’t come in an A cup!

  • Thank you! It was pretty scary getting these photos taken, but I’m so happy with them! I never thought i’d look alright in photos that were taken from a lower angle πŸ˜› Usually im about eye level or the ‘selfie’ above angle! The navy are my fave too, I think just because it’s so on trend!

  • Thank you!

  • Hope you find out which one fits better!

  • Xia Rain

Yep, I picked up the H, and it fits perfect. Wouldn’t have thought to do so if you hadn’t posted the blog, so thank you for that. (:

  • First off you look bloody amazing, you come across confident and proud and not at all nervous (I would have been), so you must’ve felt at ease. I love both sets, I’ve been wanting one of those bras with the cut out or extra strap thingy (sure there’s a name for them), but I don’t think they make them in my size. I’ve been fitted quite regularly since high-school when my boobs got really big, but like with anything it can vary between styles and brands, so I just see the size as a guide.

  • Nessbow

You look so freakin’ amazing! I know how nervous you were about these pictures but you look so comfortable and relaxed. I particularly like that first bra, with the gorgeous cage-like detail. It’s a bit racy but totally something that you could wear every day.
