Still alive!

December 16, 2015

Wahey, sorry for dropping off the radar a bit. Let’s just say i’ve been a bit over whelmed and down in the dumps, what with the whole broken foot thing. So, what’s new? Well, Tonka is here! He arrived last Tuesday and settled in no problems.  It’s nice having his company as i’ve been pretty much confined to bed.

The cast came off! YAY! I went back to the hospital last Wednesday, and I just have to say, I’m pretty impressed with Napean hospital! I had x-rays, a good talk with an orthopedic surgeon and then got fitted with a boot, all within an hour. Plus they have volunteers all around the hospitals that will show you where you have to go and also ferry you around in a wheel chair! So no operation as of yet, the Doctor basically said ‘Some people heal fast, some slow, and some not at all, and those that don’t heal, need an operation”. I have to go back in another 6 weeks (hopefully to a Melbourne specialist) for more x-rays to see how it’s healing.

I managed to get out today! I was going a bit stir crazy being cooped up at ‘home’. I had to go to the doctors and then I wandered around the shops a little. Tomorrow was the day I was supposed to start putting weight on it, but I feel like I did pretty well today. Boy does it hurt though. I didn’t realise how much a fracture could hurt. The best was I can describe the most prominent pain is that it feels like someone has inserted a razor blade in my foot.

I binge watched all 3 seasons of Orphan Black and caught up on a lot of sleep. I’ve been visiting online stores and making wishlists of items I can’t afford. I only packed a couple of ‘good’ dresses for the trip so I had to visit Best & Less to pick up some nighties, which I’ve basically been living in. Thankfully with the boot, it’s much easier to shower.

What’s new with you?

It’s great to hear you’ve had the cast off so soon! I bet it’s a relief to be out of it. Fingers crossed your foot heals so you won’t have to go through surgery to fix it. I can’t imagine what you’re going through, but it’s not surprising that you’re feeling overwhelmed and down in the dumps because of it all. It sounds awful. If you ever need someone to talk to, you’re more than welcome to message me. I’m stuck in bed 99% of the time because of chronic pain, and spinal problems, so I’m usually around (unless I’m asleep), and should be able to relate to any bed ridden / pain woes! I hope things get better for you really soon, and that Tonka cuddles are helping! xx

  • YAY for no cast and having a Kitty friend. Lets just hope you fit into the heal fast category.

Oh you poor sweet thing. I can’t imagine how bored you must be and I’m so sorry that you’re all cooped up. I wish there was something I could do to bring a smile to your face.
