Travelling to & exploring Hong Kong whilst fat.
First up, I just want to remind you that these are all my own personal thoughts and opinions of the time I spent there. I also acknowledge my privilege of being a somewhat active smaller fat. I’ll talk about my experience in Hong Kong in general but will share more in-depth info in any posts dedicated to certain locations. Flying & Airports. The flight from Melbourne to Hong Kong is 9 hours. The longest I’ve ever flown. We chose to fly Cathay Pacific, economy. We booked 8 months in advance and flights cost about $700au return. I believe it was an Airbus 350 we flew on. Seating size wise, it was very similar…

White Night Ballarat
On Saturday, I headed into Ballarat for the first time in around 20 years. The trip was a lot easier than expected, I just had to make my way into Southern Cross station and jump on the V-Line. My everyday Myki card works for the trip and ended up only costing like $6 (each way). I had never been on a V-Line train and I was impressed. It was super comfortable and quite spacious with fold down tray tables and toilets in every carriage. It took around an hour and a half to get to Ballarat. We strolled around the streets a little and stopped by an Irish Pub before heading to…

Where to eat in Ballarat – Meigas – The best Tapas I’ve ever had!
When my BFF and I found out that Ballarat was hosting it’s own White Night (more on that later), we decided to head out country for the night and experience what Ballarat had to offer. We booked an Air BnB and asked the host where they would recommend to eat. We decided on Meigas, a Spanish Resturant with some outstanding looking Tapas. We chose the ‘Feed Me’ option, which basically meant they would keep bringing out plates until you told them to stop. I didn’t take pictures of all the dishes, these are only a handful of, gees, around 13 or 14. We got to a point where we were…

Take me back to Aitutaki!
With all the stress at the moment, my mind keeps drifting back to Aitutaki. Whilst packing, or on hold to a real estate agent, I’ll think of how peaceful and relaxing it was to just float in waters so blue, to see fish swim around you, to laze under the shade of trees. I need to win the lottery so once I move to Melbourne, I can go on a holiday! *wishful thinking* I’m NOT a beach person. I remember thinking at one point before I left “Why am I going to an island in the middle of nowhere? “. I do love to swim, I love animals, I love trees…

Paradise Valley Springs – Wildlife Park
On the weekend I managed to get out and do a few touristy things. Visit the beach, the local dump (long story, but it was super fun), hot pools and Paradise Valley Springs, a Wildlife Park in Rotorua. Paradise Valley Springs is a mix of things. It has displays for a few New Zealand animals, a farm walk, and a range of NZ birds. The Ngongotaha Stream also runs through the park, which is a major Trout spawning stream. Totally awesome to see! The grounds also has it’s own natural freshwater spring, Te Waireka (meaning Sweet Water). All surrounded by nature, a tree top walk and lots of signage to indicate what…
