    VLOG – 2016 Anatolian Show

Oh hey! Sorry about the lack of updates this year, between my mental health and my foot (I’m back in my boot again) I’ve just been lacking in any inspiration. Sorry! I also decided this year to focus more on quality over quantity. I did, however, decide to piece together some video footage from last years Anatolian show to share! I think you already know how much I love and adore this breed, but I thought this was a great way to show you a bit more of what they are like!

Giant horses, huge dogs & puppies, OH MY!

You’ve heard me rave on about Anatolian Shepherds a lot on the blog, it’s easy to say they are a breed I feel strongly about and absolutly adore. I’m lucky that Melbourne has a pretty amazing community surrounding these dogs and on Tuesday I went and helped out on the Takas Volkodav property. By help out I mean, play with all the animals. This is Geronimo, he’s HUGE! It takes a lot to make me feel small and standing next to him, well, I felt pretty small! Anatolian Shepherd Champion Show 2016

It’s that time of year when the Anatolian Shepherd dog show rolls around. This was my 3rd year and 4th show attended & I’m more in love with these dogs than ever. It’s been amazing getting to know the dogs & their owners and to see the community grow. There were lots of new dogs this year and many familiar faces. It was interesting to see some of the more recent litters and their temperaments. So many of the younger dogs were so friendly and wanting of attention, be it human or other dogs. I’m not saying the older Anatolians aren’t that way, but I guess they are more set…

    Bye Bye Betsy

On Monday the much loved Betsy passed away. I still feel odd. I cried when my Mum rang, and a few times after, and now I just feel numb. I think it will hit more once I’m back at my parents place in Sydney. You can view the post on when we got Betsy here. We never knew how old she was, and soon after adopting her, we realised she was deaf. We weren’t positive at first because her ears were full of mites and we thought that may have been a hindrance, but no, she was deaf. We also found out she had been de-barked. That didn’t stop her barking…

For the love of big dogs.

It’s funny, all my life, my own ‘personal’ dogs have been small dogs. The dog-love-of-my-life Frodo was a Dachshund x Mini Foxie and before him was a Min-Pin and a range of Aussie Silky Terriers. So, small. The main interaction in my life, with a big dog, was with my Mums dog King. For some reason, we went to the RSPCA and my Mum fell in love with this great big black dog & my parents decided to adopt him. Sadly, he hadn’t been desexed, probably because they didn’t think he’d get adopted. When we went to pick him up, he sat on Mums lap on the back seat all…
