Shoalhaven Zoo
Being such an animal lover, if there is an animal park, sanctuary or zoo around, I have to go. I’d been looking forward to going to Shoalhaven Zoo (Previously Nowra Wildlife Park) since my Brother took my niece and nephew last year. As we had my other nephew with us away, we decided it’d be a great time to go check it out, and honestly, I’m super happy we did. Caleb had said a few days previously at the Easter Show that he had ‘The Best Day Ever’. I think the time at Shoalhaven Zoo was a close 2nd for him. When we arrived, the Koala talk was about to start, so…

Frodo’s home!
My Mister Baggins is home! We had a call early Sunday morning saying that if it was okay, he could come home. It seems he was feeling well enough that his anxiety had kicked in and the vet believed he’d probably recover a little better if he was home. When we got to the vet and were waiting to get him, the sounds he was making, oh it broke my heart. He was howling and wailing. As soon as we put his lead on him however, he calmed down. I nearly lost him, and I can’t put into words how much that scares me. We were lucky we got him…

Poor Mr Frodo
As I type this, my little man is at the vets. First off, I’d like to say, I know that you’re not supposed to give dogs cooked bones, and I usually don’t give them to Frodo, but my Mum often gives them to her dog, and I often feel sorry for Frodo, so I let him have one on Friday night. Well, yes, that was a big mistake. Around midnight, he threw up, and I could tell he wasn’t feeling the best, he was sooky-er then normal. He couldn’t get comfortable. I ended up waking my Mum up at 3am, and she said, wait and see how he is in…

Zoo Week – Meerkats & Giraffes!
In the description for the Hippo encounter, it says you get to meet some other animals. I honestly didn’t pay it much mind because I was just so super excited to meet the hippos, but I was very happy to find out we’d get to feed the meerkats and giraffes! We got to feed the male group that is situated in front of the giraffe exhibit. It was a family group of 10, I believe it was the father and his sons. It was an odd experience reaching into a plastic chinese container and grabbing a handful of live worms and scattering them in to the enclosure. Then we made our way to…

Zoo Week – Meeting the hippos!
I love hippos, I don’t know when I feel in love with hippos, or when I decided that I wanted to meet some, but it did. I remember one time while looking at the Adelaide Zoo website, that they did a ‘Behind the scenes tour‘ with the 2 hippos they have! After waiting a few years due to not having funds, then moving back to Sydney, I wasn’t sure if I’d get the chance. So when I decided to visit Adelaide I made the decision i’d dip into my savings and finally cross it off my bucket list. I am so glad I did. SO GLAD. The Hippo encounter cost…
