Packing for a weekend convention!
When I visit my parents for over a week I’m a horrid at packing. I never really know what I feel like wearing until I get up in the morning & the thought of trying to pack a week worth of clothes drives me insane!
As I’ve started volunteering in the convention industry, I’ve learnt over time how to pack for a weekend away, all in carry on luggage! I live in South Australia, which isn’t very big in regards to the Convention Industry so I often have to fly for work. So far, I’ve flown 6 times this year. Come Monday night that will be 8! I’m starting to know airport layouts like the back of my hand.
Tips
-
Dress Comfortably– The first con I ever did I wore a pretty dress. Ugh. The next day it was jeans & a shirt for me. I try and plan my outfit in advance, just because I want to comfortable doesn’t mean I want to be a dag. I also have to wear a work shirt, so I try to dress around that. I do sometimes wear skirts, i’m very much a skirt or dress person, but not knowing what I’ll be doing on the day I always wear tights underneath!
-
Comfortable Shoes – I often see ladies at cons wearing high heels, I don’t know how they do it. I’ve also noticed that these are the ladies who tend to complain about lines when it comes to the end of the day. Comfy shoes are a big plus. When I’m on my feet all day, I want my feet not to hate me come to bed time!
-
Swimming Costume– If you have roon pack a swimming costume, even in winter. I love swimming or relaxing in a spa & most hotels offer at least a pool. I don’t often get to make use of it, but the one time I didn’t bring a costume ended up with me spending $50 on Australiana Merch from the hotel store to swin in!
