Belle Curve at Target + giveaway!

November 8, 2013

I was recently invited to a bloggers viewing of a new plus size range Belle Curve launching at Target. I’ve always loved Target but apart from one time in the past, I found their plus size range lacking, while it worked for some people, as a 20 something girl into fashion I always found it underwhelming, especially when surrounded by some of the amazing pieces available in straight sizes.

targetbellecurve01Top – BelleCurve Kaleidoscope Maxi in size 22. It was a bit big and I could have easily sized down to a 20. Worn with a belt borrowed from the Zoe pants. Above – Outfit which you can see in my previous post, worn with the Shine Bright Shrug in a size 20

The first thing that caught my eye was the Shine Bright Shrug. Helllloooo sequins! The major winning factor of it was the pattern, it wasn’t just straight sequins, they were placed in an intricate swirl pattern.

The first release is 14 pieces and does feature a good deal of sequins, which for me, is a win, and while it does feature a fair amount of black, they’ve thrown in an amazing kaleidoscope print. I also love that most of the pieces work that you can dress them up or down.

With Belle Curve Ambassodor Fiona Faulkner. I have to say that not only is she absolutely stunning, but so friendly! Photo on the left is stolen from Caitlins Instagram. The middle photo I’m wearing the Isabella Lurex top.

I only tried on two of the outfits (plus the shrug). I went with the Isabella Lurex top (size 20) & Dazzle Me pencil skirt (size 22). I found the sizing rather large. The Isabella top is supposed to be oversized but it was nearly tunic length on me (perfect for leggings!) but needed to be tucked in to the skirt. I really fell in love with the shirt though.

The second outfit I tried on was something out of my comfort zone, and that was the Kaleidoscope maxi dress (size 22). Again, I found the sizing ran a little large and I would have been better in a size 20. I loved how the slip underneath only goes to the knee and that there is a split on one side. While I still have some issues with my flabby upper arms, I really loved the long sleeve/ strap combo. The print is what made it for me. While I don’t wear maxis often, I feel this is one that I would actually wear regularly. targetbellecurve002

Two other standout pieces for me were the Kaleidoscope body con dress and the Glamourous sequin dress.

The prices, to me, were reasonable, with everything in this current collection under $80. Which fits in around the pricing of a lot of the straight sized range of Target clothing.

On the way home from the event, I stopped by my local Target (Penrith) and they had all stock bar the bolero. Yes, I caved and picked up the Isabella Lurex top for myself.

We also got a sneak peak of the image board for the ‘Summer Adventure’ collection, and well, I AM EXCITED! Look at that striped body con dress! Look at that zippered origami like skirt!

And now, for you…

Thanks to Target, I have a $50 Target gift card to give away to a lucky reader!

To enter – Head on over to the Target webpage, take a look at the Belle Curve range, then leave a comment on this post telling me which is your favourite piece from the collection, and why. (Also, please leave your email address in the comment!)

Really cute! Love the last outfit the most. Hopefully they bring this brand to the states as well!

  • Purdey

I adore the Kaleidoscope bodycon dress. I love how the black panelling at the sides gives the illusion of a slimmer shape, it’s very well designed. The colours are definitely ‘me’ and I think it could be dressed up or down easily. The ponte fabric is a good choice, thick enough to smooth over my bumpy bits but not too hot for spring.
Totally amazed & almost proud at how quick the whole collection sold out online too – I’m really glad this was such a hit – it defintely let’s Target know we’re consumers with curves and when you offer us quality well-designed clothes for fuller-figures, we’ll buy!

  • Christine Valentine

I love the Belle Curve Glamorous Sequin Dress, Because I have never had the confidence to wear a sequin dress before because I didnt want to look like a disco ball. But this has just the right amount of bling. Would be perfect for my upcoming 27th birthday.

The piece I automatically fell in love with when I first tried on some of the Bellcurve range was the Glam life sleeveless blouse with the sequin shoulders. The reason was that it was such a classic yet modern and versatile piece! I love that it can be worn tucked, untucked or tied up and that it’s black but has that eye catching sequin detail on the shoulders! For me this is a must have in my wardrobe 🙂

  • Hi Natalie. I’m an American gal recently moved to Melbourne and I’m so happy to discover your blog, and learn more about where to shop in this great city. My eye is on the Belle Curve Isabella Lurex Top. It looks super comfortable and very versatile. I can see myself wearing it casually with jeans or dressing it up with nicer pants or a skirt. Thanks for the sneak peek at the collection. (cosette.paneque@gmail-dot-com).

  • Kim m

I am loving the black, blue and pinky dress that you are wearing at the top of the post, what a great photo, this looks like an awesome dress that would suit everyone

  • Kate

I love the Lolita Dress, a classic number that can be worn through the day and with a little blinging up can go straight to evening wear, a great piece, I so need to get my hands on that!

  • Rachel T

Although the Lolita dress is an absolute knockout and a clear favourite I can’t help but love the

Kaleidoscope Blouse. I feel like I could create so many looks with it. I could team it with skirts, over leggings, with jeans, layer tops underneath it and dress it up or down with accessories and shoes.
