Everyday

Books!

Last year, I re-found my love of books, I think I’d lost it somewhere in my high school years. So this year, I set myself a task of reading 100 books throughout the year. It may seem to some like a rather large goal, but seeing as I’m not employed, I have some spare time on my hand. Last year, I read a total of 83 books. So, I think I can do it!

May seems to be the months for books! Many of the novels in series I read have books being released this month. Richelle Mead, Charlaine Harris, Ilona Andrews & I’ve been so excited about them all! As of today, my total has reached 43 books this year. Not bad, if I can say so myself.

I thought every now and then I’d go through some of my favourite books.  Looking through the list, you’ll see I like Paranormal Romance, Regency Romance, Teen Novels, some erotica. Around 90% of the list probably has some sort of supernatural element. What can I say, it seems to interest me!

The Kate Daniels Series by Ilona Andrews!

Magic Bleeds would probably tie first place with the new Sookie Stackhouse book  for the book I’m most excited about reading this May.

I honestly don’t remember how I stumbled across the Kate Daniels series, but boy am I glad I did! It has the perfect amount of adventure, suspense & it’s not all about the two main characters hooking up! Sure, it’s filled with a lot of sexual tension, but it’s done so brilliantly. Another thing I like about this book is that the vampires aren’t sexy! They are old school horror novel scary!

The world has suffered a magic apocalypse. We pushed the technological progress too far, and now magic returned with a vengeance. It comes in waves, without warning, and vanishes as suddenly as it appears. When magic is up, planes drop out of the sky, cars stall, electricity dies. When magic is down, guns work and spells fail.

Website Paperback Dolls have an amazing character interview with 2 characters from the novel! They also have a competition running for your chance to to win a copy of the soon to be released book!

The Gardella Vampire Chronicals  by Colleen Gleason!

I devoured this series last year & pretty much 5 starred every book! Set in 19th Century London, this series starts out sounding a little like Buffy the Vampire Slayer. “In every generation, a Gardella is called to accept the family legacy of hunting vampire” . These books take you through the story of a girl turning into a woman, all the while trying to figure out how to live up to societies standards & kill vampires. No, it’s not one of those amusing novels. These books often have you at the edge of your seat.

This series is complete in 5 books.

You can download (for free!!) Colleen’s short story introducing readers to the Gardella Vampire Chronicals HERE . Go on! Readit and I have no doubt you’ll be out buying the books asap!

The Gemma Doyle Trilogy by Libba Bray

This book is classified as Young Adult. Out of the entire Young Adult category, this would be the series I’d recommend. My best friend kept talking about this series, so it was one of the first that I picked up to start reading. I couldn’t put it down.

Set in a Victorian Boarding School, this story tells the tale of a young girl, Gemma, who after her Mothers death, gets sent to a boarding school. There she meets fellow school mates Ann, Felicity & Pippa. Gemma has the power of vision, the power to transport them into another realm. But nothing can be that simple.

The descriptions in this book is amazing. Reading along, you’ll feel as if you are right in the adventure with the girls.

This series is complete in 3 books
